Biodiverse Odra - eco mural

BIODIVERSE ODRA
mural in Uraz
Designed and painted by Paweł Ponichtera and Aleksandra Czudżak
We took part in BOŚ Fundation competition. The task was to design and paint a mural that would speak about ecology and biodiversity. We also had to find a place suitable for such action. We chose a school in Uraz. The building and village is located near the river Odra. In this parts river creates an oxbow lakes, which are a home for various species of animals and plants.
We wanted to present to present this phenomena in our project. Mural deipcts local animals such as gray herons, swallows, frogs or great crested crebe. It was essential to enhance educational value in our project.

Also the school roof is a home for western house martin (Delichon urbicum). We provided them with little wooden houses, that would help their population to nest. Those birds, are building their houses with a clay from the river, but during drought this task might be difficult for them. Throughout the creation of the mural local kids helped us, and they were learning about importance of biodiversity, and how caring for enviorment will affect their lives.

Our mural is divided into two walls.
